TEA is an Ethiopian resident charity organization registered under the Federal government of Ethiopia. It is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental organization independently dedicated to the initiation and integration of sustainable development efforts in Ethiopia since its establishment in the year 2009.

We strive to support livelihood based development projects in Ethiopia as a means of improving economic empowerment, enabling communities to become autonomous, independent and sustainable. When household income is established and food security is stabilized, the focus can then turn to education, healthcare, and long-term sustainability in a number of areas such as:

  • Education, particularly education of girls and women
  • Access to affordable and quality healthcare services and medical facilities
  • Income-generation activities like beekeeping, especially for women & vulnerable youth

Accountable to Our Supporters

We work extremely hard to use the many resources we have in Ethiopia to alleviate human suffering, while ensuring responsible practices for accountability and sound stewardship to our beneficiaries.

  • 80% of the donations we receive get to the beneficiaries—those in need. Administrative, travel, and other operational costs are covered by volunteers and our organization. We provide sound stewardship and transparency in all our undertakings.
  • We leverage the resources we receive so we can maximize the outcome and increase the impact.
  • We have stakeholders & partners contributions in different forms—financial resources or technical support—to encourage participation in their own success.
  • We forge strong partnerships with other organizations and individuals to provide expertise, trust, and excellent stewardship of the resources people entrust to us, and we employ effective follow up mechanisms to ensure they are proceeding as planned and to document their stories and share the results with our donors.

Small Steps Lead To Big Changes

Government organizations, especially Ministry of Health, are necessary to provide macro measures for our organization by addressing issues such as Reproductive Maternal, Neonatal, Health programs, etc. But sometimes action on a much simpler scale is required. We’re a small organization but, as they say, good things come in small packages. While governments and international organizations carry out research and draft policies governing different practices of solving such issues, we believe that with consistent small solutions, major changes can happen over time.

Imagine what could happen if everyone took some action today to help others. It doesn’t have to be big. But if we each did something small, the results would be incredible. Every person whose life is helped in some way from one act of giving can in turn take action when they’re capable to help others… In this way, one small act can change the world.

So let us do what we can today, regardless of how small we think that action might be. What you think is a small action may be huge to those in need. One act leads to another and when there are enough small actions, there can be major results.

We’ve partnered with a lot of noble people on a variety of projects, because we are highly motivated to help the poor. For example, the Former President of Ethiopia, H.E. Girma W. Giorgis has given us 46 ha of land in Ambo town. But we don’t compromise on one principle: no pressure. We walk softly and quietly. Yes, we let people know what we are doing and in this matter, about the safe and reliable vehicle they are about to board into. But again, we apply no pressure. If God wants this to happen, it will happen without us getting aggressive. He can handle it for us. Let us go forward hand in hand to help the poor!

It Doesn’t Take a Lot to Make a Difference

Over the years, we have been able to raise funds and support more than 50,000 people in Ethiopia. That translates to approximately $7 per person, in other words, we have provided different positive life changing services to the youth and women in particular. It doesn’t seem like a lot of money per person, but it surely makes a greater impact in their lives. What does it mean?

  • A young girl no longer has to walk five kilometers to compete with other equally desperate people to fill her water fetching container with brown polluted water, risking her life. Instead, she now has a watering station with clean, safe, drinking water just fifteen minutes from her home. She now has more time to go to school and concentrate on her studies.
  • Livelihood and sustainability projects for over 10,000 insecure individuals, many of them being children and women.
  • Expansion of one elementary school and construction of two new elementary schools in North Shoa of the Amhara Region and contribute easy access to quality education for youth and children.
  • Provision of trainings and workshops in 14 districts of Afar Region on reproductive maternal and neonatal health care services to more than 10,000 women which have changed their lives and are now using the services to improve maternal health in the region. Previously, the uptake of these services was at minimal but it is now showing increasing rates.

There are currently more than 62 million people live without basic access to safe drinking water in Ethiopia according to UNICEF. 70,000 deaths per year due to diarrheal diseases, largely caused by contaminated water, are one of the leading causes of death in children under five. Together, they’re responsible for approximately 525,000 child fatalities annually.

Additionally, 38 percent of medical facilities lack access to an adequate water supply, 19 percent lack proper sanitation infrastructure — 35 percent do not have soap or hand-washing stations. Although TEA is working diligently with the federal & regional governments by signed a project agreement, these populations are at risk of water, starvation & diseases, as they are not guaranteed basic rights in their life due to drought.

Ethiopia is known as the Water Tower.by digging deep wells clean water is available for animals, human and irrigation services.

We ensure that 80% of the donations we receive get to the beneficiaries.
